Vestibular
Physiotherapy
What is Vestibular Physiotherapy?
Vestibular Physiotherapy is a specialised form of neurological rehabilitation designed to address symptoms associated with vestibular system dysfunction. It involves specialised diagnostic methods and personalised exercises, interventions, and rehabilitation plans. The primary objective is to reduce dizziness and the risk of falls while enhancing balance, mobility, and overall function.
Vestibular Physiotherapy
The vestibular system is a sensory system made up of specialised structures located in our inner ear and our central nervous system (including the brain) which work together to process information about movement and our head position to help us to remain balanced, orientate ourselves in space and keep our visual gaze stable. When any part of this system is not working correctly the brain may not receive accurate information about our motion and posture and it can cause issues such as:
Dizziness and Vertigo
Impaired balance and falls
Sense of Disorientation
Visual Disturbances or Trouble Focusing
Light Headedness
Hearing Changes
Motion Sensitivity/Sickness
Nausea/vomiting
Conditions that can affect Vestibular System function
BPPV (Positional Vertigo)
Concussion, Brain Injury
Stroke
Persistent Postural Perceptual Dizziness (PPPD)
Vestibular Migraine
Meniere’s Disease

Acoustic Neuroma
